Thermodynamic Activity of MnO in CaO–SiO<sub>2</sub>–MnO–FeO–MgO Molten Slags

In order to understand the thermodynamic characteristics of smelting process for high manganese twinning-induced plasticity (TWIP) steel, activity coefficient MnO in molten slag MnO–CaO–SiO2–FeO–MgO system with up 52 mass% was measured at 1450°C by experiments equilibrium between liquid silver and under mixed gas atmosphere CO, CO2 Ar. The distribution ratio LMn slag, concentration quotient K’ were also measured. effects MnO, FeO basicity on discussed. as a function components investigated regression analysis method. results show that: (a) Raoultian coefficients are less than unity. (b) When B = 0.77–1.15, 15.8–52.9 7–20 mass%, increases content increases, but decrease increases. (c) 0.89–1.08, 43.6–46.9 (d) 40–45 9–14 0.7–1.8,
